Today it is a different matter, once famed for it’s history, Leith is now littered with rubbish lining the famous cobbled streets thus causing disease spreading vermin to run wild. In addition, the construction of the tram network has resulted in untold misery for residents, pedestrians and drivers.
Visitors to Leith are in for a rude awakening, they will find seagulls hunting through the bin liners, homes infected by rats and roads destroyed by construction work.

Totally agree with past annotations about Ilene Davidson, just what is her contribution to Leith Centre, and how can she act in best interests of the people of Leith? With the closure of Leith Victoria Crèche and the possible closure of Bonnington Resource Centre what chances do the good people of Leith have, especially with some floozy like Ilene Davidson as chairperson jumping when the so called powers that be say so. Come on Ms Davidson do the decent thing and leave.

WHAT NEXT LEITH COMMUNITY CENTRE, If Ilene Davidson remains as chair of Leith Community Centre, and the council decide to close it will she defend it, no chance, Davidson is so far up the children and families arse she could tickle Mackay tonsils !

The Hit Man The Slime Ball
Well it’s that time of year, festivals everywhere and Leith is no exception. A programme dropped through our door the other day. On the inside cover there is a message from there Chair none other than Councilor Gordon “The Slime Ball” Munro, however the 2008 Leith Festival website clearly states that Sandy “The Hit Man” Campbell is the Chair, confused.com, so are we!!

After the announcement to close the crèche at Leith Victoria, the Council have dealt another blow to the good people of Leith with the closure of Leith Waterworld. The excellent fun venue will be sold off on the completion of the refurbishment of the Commonwealth Pool in 2011 at a cost of 37 million.

As if the traffic chaos in Leith Walk is not bad enough with the new tram system, now parts of Constitution Street are about to be closed at the end of March for about 6 months.

Having lived in Leith for 50 years, I am extremely disappointed by what is happening in our local community. Praise is due to the team at Leith Sucks for highlighting the irregular and underhanded tactics, in particular the goings on in the community centre. Is the management committee on some sort of ego trip or perhaps drugs? The centre is there for the benefit of the community. How is the management committee elected? I have never seen any documentation relating to annual general meetings. Moreover, how can council employees decide what is best for the community when they do not know what the community wants.
I am most captivated by the frolics of the current chairperson (Ilene Davidson) and the so-called people who are part of the children and families department, and let us not forget the councillors representing the Leith ward.
I cannot understand why Ilene Davidson (according to articles on this site) is at the helm when she has no personal involvement in Leith whatsoever and a council employee to boot, maybe it will look good on her CV or is she sleeping with the powers that be in the council to get up the promotion ladder. Either way she should be removed from chair.

With the new tram system underway there is now traffic chaos in Leith Walk. With the contra-flow in place, no right into Pilrig Street or McDonald Road it’s best to avoid this area
