Found this link http://cpol.edinburgh.gov.uk/getdoc_ext.asp?DocId=101864 what a load of crap, who writes this nonsense? Item 3.2 sums it all up “A new chairperson was elected who is committed to working in partnership with the Council to ensure the centre fulfils its role within the local community”. The only way the new chairperson is committed (Ilene Davidson) is simply because she is a Council employee.  

In response to the previous post, the answer is quite simple NO CHANCE. The Puppet (or Muppet) is still there.

I see in previous posts (8 in total) that various questions have been asked about Ilene “The Puppet” Davidson’s and her suitability of being Chairperson down in Leith Centre. To date I cannot see any of the answers to the questions asked of her or her employers (the Council). I assume that this has been resolved. I personally would like to see the response posted giving satisfactory explanations to her actions. The phrase “Puppet” seems to be an understatement and “Muppet” would be more appropriate.

News just in to Leithsucks. We are please to announce that the centre café has reopened under new management.

Rumour has it that Gordon Ramsey has applied for the franchise in the centre café. Mr Ramsey has heard the Christine “Hard As Nails” MacKay has FCUKED up yet again, Gordon is adamant that given a few minutes with MacKay would solve the problem.

The well used café in the centre is closed. Maggie who successfully ran the café has decided to call it a day and gracefully bowed out on Wednesday 5 September after years of loyalty. To date there is no one to take over her position. We have been informed that Maggie told the management committee weeks ago about her decision.  Why has the committee left this situation vacant for so long? Is this another case of incompetence on behalf of the committee, or is there a hidden agenda?

Very out of the ordinary website this, intrigued by what was going down in Leith. Has Ilene Davidson or her employer taken up the challenge in earlier comments? I think not.

If there is any truth in what is being said about the Rosendale’s then they have Ilene Davidson in their back pocket. Davidson does not stay in or work in Leith and is not involved with any groups within the centre and is a Council employee surely this says it all. Turning the community centre over to Edinburgh Leisure is an easy option, will the good people of Leith be involved is such decisions?

Leith Sucks needs more publicity to let the good people of Leith know what is going on and I am sure there are a few more stories or truths out there that could do with some airing.

Nice article on the Edinburgh Sucks web site under the heading Strategy, what strategy, quote “There is also notice that community centre’s will be managed differently which may confirm an earlier rumor that community centres will no longer be a resource for the community but they will turn into profit centres and be taken over by council arms-length company Edinburgh Leisure. One of our contacts, who are thought by the Rosendales to be an “insider”, tells us that Rosendale wants to push this through under the guise of making cuts but his real motive is to push all of the voluntary sector down and stop all their lobbying.  It would also take out the pesky volunteer management committees that Rosendale feels is stopping him and his missus taking full control of most of the city - The Rosendales don’t realise just how bad of a strategy this would be”.

Christine MacKay has already taken over the control of Leith Centre. The current committee do not even hold the lease on this property, Mackay withdrew it in March. She turns up at most committee meeting and dictates what she wants to happen. Leith Community Education Centre will be the first centre to buckle under the pressure. And what are the Councillors Gordon “The Slimeball” Munro and Rob “Go With The Flow” Munn doing about it, sweet FA 

I would like to be a fly on the wall in the Rosendale’s bedroom at night, can’t be a lot going on between the sheets, it will be all talk planning the following day’s strategy and destruction.

After the fiasco at the AGM regarding the constitution, the management committee are going against all ideology and co-opting additional members in the form of Louise “Loopy” Leach although there is no prerequisite to do so. Is the current committee proficient to run this centre, apparently not!

I have been monitoring your website for about a month now and being a person who knows about community centre management committees and especially constitutions I simply ask the following. Does the current Chairperson have either a place of study or a place of employment within the catchment area of the centre? Failing that, does she attend any groups or activities in the centre? If not why is she a member of the centre at all? If she does not attend any centre groups how can she be representative or act in the interest of users as she has no locus or experience of using the centre she is part of managing?

I think you will find if you check your constitution that the current chairperson does not meet the criteria to be Chairperson under your existing rules. The Scottish Charities Commissioner may have a thing or two to say about this matter.
