This is no victory, rain stops play!

The alliance of SNP and Lib/Dems falls at the first hurdle due to the SNP withdrawing their support for the School and Community Centre closures. At face value this looks like a victory for common sense. However the more astute political observers out there may have seen the real culprits in this fiasco - those senior Council officials - who drafted this ridiculous report ( full Community Centres and 85% Schools to close ) to bail themselves out of a financial black whole whilst at the same time putting pressure on the political alliance. Has anyone had a proper explanation of exactly what the £13.5 million overspend was attributed too? Remember this was on the Rev Ewan Aitkin’s beat and it would be interesting to read the paper the Labour party had prepared prior to the election in May for the cuts they were going to make - let’s see it Rev!

It looks like Roy Jobson took his financial package, let’s hope it wasn’t £13.5 million, and disappeared off into the breeze leaving the Children and Families with the deficit. A wee birdie tells us that the ‘Jonah Jobson’ hasn’t left for pastures new as yet but he has managed to somehow pick up a couple of directorships from the Council with PARC and Edinburgh Leisure. Once you get on that gravy train at old Waverley you just can’t disembark. Let’s hope he is also not involved in Meadowbank or the Council might very well sell the site and end up owing some private developer money than they get for it. Wasn’t Jonah Jobson’s Strategic Planning Manager none other than the ‘Fraudster’ Mike Rosendale, who himself was responsible for the funding fiasco at ELLP, where a whistleblower reported that £400,000 had been taken from their accounts and Rosendale just wrote it off. Why would the Council continue to allow Mike ‘the Fraudster” Rosendale to manage a budget of £400 million when he couldn’t account for £400,000 of ELLP money. Standby for more pronouncements on school closures and a range of other Children and Families services to cover for the gross incompetence of ‘Fraudster’ Rosendale and his other senior cronies. Let’s see how many Senior Managers lose their jobs in the next round of proposals? If you reduce the workforce you must surely reduce the number of managers at Starfleet Waverley? Should they not be getting rid of a range of staff at Starfleet Waverley and be protecting those staff who deliver services to communities?
